When I close my eyes, I can feel the light.

I can hear the sounds, gently fading.

Softly falling, then entrusting.

Whiteness behind. The sky, beyond.

What remains, is peaceful silence.

Louise Claire WAGNER

Born and raised in Basel, Switzerland, Louise Claire Wagner moved to Paris, France in 2012, where she graduated with a degree in Social Sciences and Urban Studies. It was during this time that she developed her passion for photography, leading to her first award at the Festival Culturel Nomade, a solo exhibition and the participation at several group exhibitions.

In 2014, she visited Japan and instantly fell in love with the country. She then focused her research on Japanese city planning, which gave her the opportunity to approach the culture and society, to study its architecture, to travel between Paris and Tōkyō, and to capture new images.

In 2016, she was named one of the 30 UNDER 30 WOMEN PHOTOGRAPHERS by ARTPIL and in 2017, she showed two chapters of her Tōkyō photography series An Other Look at Harmony and In-Between, Somewhere in different venues in Paris. In 2019, she exhibited a further chapter There and Then, Here and Now in Tōkyō and joined the project TOKYO-GA / TOKYO CURIOSITY. In 2020, she was nominated for the Leica Oskar Barnack Award 2020 in the Newcomer category.

Louise Claire Wagner is currently based in Tōkyō, Japan.
