This exhibition reexamines the idea of “borders” through the motif of stripes.

In the West, stripes have often symbolized order and control, while in Japan they evoke a sense of natural continuity—like chains of islands stretching across the sea.

By presenting these contrasting perspectives, the exhibition proposes that borders are not “lines that divide,” but rhythms that connect people, time, and culture.

We invite you to experience a “borderless world” where the individual and the whole, the past and the future, the self and the other come together in harmony.

本展は、縞模様を通して「ボーダー」を見つめ直すものです。

西洋では縞が秩序や管理の象徴として扱われる一方、日本では島々が連なる風景のように、自然な連続性やつながりを想起させます。

この対照的な視点を通して、本展はボーダーを「隔てる線」ではなく、人・時間・文化を結ぶリズムとして提示します。
